6 Common Health Conditions That Chiropractic Care Treats

Chiropractic has the ability to heal your entire body. Instead of focusing on one area, we focus on your nervous system and ensure that it is working the way it should. When your nervous system is working properly, your body has the ability to heal itself. When people are in pain, they come see our doctor of chiropractic. However, our patients notice that we not only treat the condition, but we help improve their overall health.

These are some of the most common conditions that our doctor of chiropractic has been able to treat.

1. Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain is one of the most common problems that chiropractors see. Often, chronic lower back pain is caused by additional pressure on your intervertebral discs. This pressure is often due to subluxations, or slight dislocations within your spine. The pressure prevents your discs from getting the nourishment that they need and it will cause the discs to bulge, which will cause pain. Chiropractic will align your spine to relieve the pressure and reduce your pain.

2. Knee Pain

Knee pain often has 2 causes. Subluxations in the spine are one problem that can put your body out of balance. This imbalance will cause you to walk in a way that will lead to knee pain. The second cause of knee pain is due to fallen arches in the feet, also known as “flat feet.” The arches in your feet are designed to absorb the shock to your body caused by walking or running. Without your arches absorbing the shock, the knee tends to absorb it, causing knee pain. Alongside your overall treatment plan, a chiropractor can also help decide on the right orthotics for your feet to support your arches.

3. Sciatica

Sciatica is a condition where the Sciatic nerves are being pinched by inflamed tissue and misaligned bones. When these nerves are pinched, it can lead to nerve pain, radiating from the lower back, down through the legs and the feet. By aligning the spine, your chiropractor can relieve any pressure that is being placed on the sciatic nerves. This will ease any pain and will lead to proper nervous system function.

4. Carpal Tunnel

If you’re experiencing a constant numbness, tingling, or sudden sharp pains in your hands, wrists, or arms, it may not be a simple cramp that will pass with time. It could be a sign of something more serious, known as carpal tunnel syndrome. This condition is caused by the compression of a vital nerve, called the median nerve. It runs from the forearm to the palm and controls the feelings and minor muscle movements in the palm, fingers, and hands. If the condition progresses, it can lead to a loss of sensation in your hands and result in weakness throughout your arm.

5. Arthritis

Arthritis is a condition that develops when your joints become inflamed. As it progresses, the joints and discs in your back will eventually succumb to consistent pain and discomfort. Without treatment, you’ll begin to feel uncomfortable with every movement. You may even experience joint swelling, decreased range of motion, and muscle weakness. It’s tough to deal with over a long period of time and it can even degrade your quality of life.

6. Joint Problems

Joints are essential components to the structure of our bodies. They help support our weight, promote functional movement, and allow us to be flexible. They are, however, incredibly fragile. As a result, they face more injuries than any other part of the body. People who suffer from joint injuries tend to experience painful movements and stiffness, preventing them from doing the activities that they enjoy.
