What is a Bulging Disc?
Most back pain is caused by problems with the intervertebral discs. The intervertebral discs are designed to help your spine flex and bend the way that it should. They have a soft, jellylike center enclosed by a strong, protective casing. When your spine is misaligned, it can place additional pressure on the discs. This can push them outside of their correct positioning and cause them to bulge. This will also put pressure on the spinal cord and nerves which will cause back pain.
How Chiropractic Can Treat Bulging Discs
Intervertebral discs (which function as shock absorbers of the spine) are the cartilage cushions located between the vertebrae (bones) of the spine. Discs can become inflamed, irritated, bulging, and even ruptured if the spine undergoes even the most trivial of traumas.
The most common signs that a person may be suffering from a disc problem are numbness and tingling down their arms and legs, often accompanied by sharp shooting pains. Discs that are bulging or pinching can be a very serious condition directly linked to subluxations (spinal misalignments).
Dr. H. Khayal can diagnose and treat disc problems. Often, diagnostic imaging in the form of x-rays and MRI’s are needed to properly diagnose a disc problem or condition. When properly treated, chiropractic care can successfully minimize and eliminate the pain and suffering that comes from disc problems. Some of the treatment methods used include spinal adjustments and spinal decompression therapy.
